    AmeyCespa (East) Waste Management Park

    AmeyCespa (East) Waste Management Park

The 400 acre park is designated as a major waste facility in Cambridgeshire County Council’s Minerals and Waste local Plan and therefore, as well as the existing facilities listed below the park may well see future developments. These will arise as Cambridgeshire’s population increases, new businesses come into the area and the nature of waste changes.

    Environment

We have strict environmental policies which we operate under and we have carried out a number of site reclamation schemes which have brought despoiled land back to agricultural or amenity use. Our 400 acre AmeyCespa (East) site is a haven for wildlife, particularly birds. The rough grazing on the restored landfill is home to a variety of plants and animals including bee orchids, barn owls, tawny owls, skylarks and the brown hare.

    Facilities at AmeyCespa (East)

To successfully treat all the waste which arrives at the site, we have a number of facilities in place including:

    • MBT Plant which sorts recyclable materials from mixed household rubbish delivered by Cambridgeshire councils. This produces a compost-like material with the organic fraction.

    • Visitor and Education Centre for schools and local interest groups to come and find out what happens to their waste.

    • Windrow composting site which composts household garden waste from the household waste recycling centres in Cambridgeshire and also takes similar waste from landscape gardeners, tree surgeons and grounds maintenance contractors.

    • In-Vessel composting plant which takes mixed household kitchen and garden waste from Cambridgeshire councils, and food waste from pubs, restaurants and hotels. This is collected by AmeyCespa’s trade waste service.

    • Construction and demolition, and skip waste drop off, recovery and recycling. This takes waste delivered directly by local builders and other tradesmen, plus from AmeyCespa’s own skip hire service, and separates materials such as concrete and brick rubble, soil, timber and scrap metals for recycling.

    • Skip hire and wheeled bin collection service. AmeyCespa’s main trade waste recycling and collection service and skip hire to householders, operates out of AmeyCespa (East). We also have a wide range of vehicles, and a variety of skip and bin sizes for businesses, to dispose of mixed and recyclable waste.

    • Waste transfer and drop off for council and trade waste - vehicles can drop off waste in a purpose built building and stay on tarmac and concrete roads at all times. Contractors’ vehicles do not go onto the landfill site.
    •
    • Construction and Demolition Waste (C&D) recycling area

    • Landfill - the AmeyCespa (East) site has extensive landfill capacity.

    • Renewable energy production from landfill gas.

    • Asbestos drop off for the Cambridgeshire residents.

    • A supply of free compost for the public to collect.

    • A large supply of soil conditioner for farmers, landscape gardeners, horticulturalists etc. to collect on a commercial basis.
